When the book is closed on Metallica and the final history written, you won't find the word "unambitious" anywhere.

Expect to see giant, beardy metal heads weep into their Jaeger-flavoured popcorn at screenings for this warm hug of a film.

His dream was to meet Metallica's drummer, Lars Ulrich. But Tom Spicer has a rare form of autism and lives in a care home. So in 2009, his brother and sister packed his bags and set out with him on a road trip across America, capturing the journey in a remarkable, moving and funny film

Metallica drummer Lars Ulrich explains why Metallica decided to create their own Orion festival in this clip from behind the scenes of the band's cover shoot for Rolling Stone's Big Issue. "Getting your own festival off the ground is not something you do overnight," he says. "What we're trying to do with the Orion festival is certainly rooted in our European festival experience over the last three decades. The main thing you get at these festivals is diversity and variety, and the whole experience of the weekend is about discovery."

De Werchterwei zag gisteren zwart van het volk. Letterlijk. Want zo'n 52.000 hoofdzakelijk in het zwart geklede heavy metal-fans tekenden op pinkstermaandag present op de 2012-versie van Werchter Boutique. Van de partij: Metallica, vijf andere bands uit het harde genre, en veel zon.

Als afsluiter van Werchter Boutique heeft Metallica, een van de meest succesvolle metalbands ooit, onder meer het volledige 'Black Album' gespeeld. Met die plaat brak de Amerikaanse groep in 1991 definitief door.

Geen cd die zo belangrijk is geweest voor de aanvaarding van metal als 'Metallica' van Metallica uit 1991. De cd is beter gekend als 'The Black Album', wat te danken is aan de zwarte hoes (met donkergrijze slang, die vaak vergeten schijnt te worden). De cd die metal tot bij het grote publiek bracht, met dank aan 'Nothing else matters'. De cd ook die Metallica tot op het Werchterpodium bracht: voor de eerste keer stond een metalband op een 'gewoon' festival. Zes miljoen mensen gingen kijken naar The Black Album-tournee. Waarom dat 20 jaar later nog eens overdoen?
